Susan Fehr

Susan Fehr (nee Hamm) aged 85 of Altona, formerly of Winkler and the Roseville School District, passed away Wednesday, February 18th at Altona Health Care Centre.  Mom was born to Andrew A and Margaret Hamm on August 8, 1929 in Neuberghtal , Manitoba.

She leaves to mourn 3 sons and 3 daughters, son Mervin (wife Leona), daughter Irma (husband Jerry), son Andy (wife Diane), daughter Martha (husband John), daughter Wilma (husband Dan), and son Dennis (wife Susan); 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren.   She is survived by 2 sisters, 7 sisters-in-law, 8 brothers-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. 

She was predeceased by her husband Deacon Diedrich Fehr, 1 granddaughter, and 1 great-grandson, 2 sisters, 2 brothers, 5 brothers-in-law, and 3 sisters-in-law. 

Mom was baptized in 1948 and became a member of the Sommerfeld Mennonite Church.  She married Diedrich Fehr on September 23, 1951.

Mom kept very busy on the family farm raising six children and also worked for many years at Hi-Way Inn in Altona.  Her hobbies were gardening, singing in various choirs, playing musical instruments, in later years crocheting blankets for everyone in her family, and enjoying the company of family and friends. 

Mom and Dad sold their farm near Altona in February of 2006 and moved to Winkler to enjoy their second retirement.  Three years after Dad’s passing, Mom moved back to Altona and reconnected with childhood friends but never forgot her friends she made in Winkler.

We would like to sincerely thank all of the doctors and nurses who were so kind and helpful at the Altona Health Care Centre.  Also, a special thank you to Bishop Dave Wiebe, Rev. Abe Wiebe, and Rev. Jeff Hildebrand.

Thank you to Wiebe Funeral Home for their kindness and care given to us as a family.  There are many people who supported us through this difficult time and we appreciate each and every one of you.

The funeral service for Susan Fehr will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at the Altona Sommerfeld Mennonite Church with interment to follow at the Froese Family Cemetery.  Viewing will be at Wiebe Funeral Home Altona on Sunday, February 22, 2015 and Monday, February 23, 2015 from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, and at the church prior to the service.
