Gail Shimonek

Gail Patricia Shimonek, born on January 16, 1951, to Walter and Kay Eisbrenner, passed away peacefully, leaving a legacy of love and adventure. On June 28, 1969, she married Percy Shimonek, with whom she shared 48 years of marriage until his passing in 2017. Together, they navigated life as best friends, parents, and devoted partners.

Gail is survived by her children Natalie, Scott (Bonnie), and Nicole, and her grandchildren Dawson, Sawyer, Delaney, and step-granddaughters Ariane and Cydnee. Her family also includes her brothers Terry (Gladys) and Rob (Loretta), and Percy’s family, Jane Shimonek, Eileen (Sherman) Goplin, Sylvia Steinke, and Ed (Lorna).

Gail excelled in her career at Red River College, becoming the Chair of Applied Commerce and Management Education in Winnipeg, and received a standing ovation upon her retirement in 2014. She was deeply committed to her community, particularly through her work with the South Central Cancer Resource (SCCR).

Gail's adventurous spirit led her to many travels and outdoor activities. Despite her battle with endometrial cancer, she continued to seek new experiences. Her last days were filled with love, surrounded by family and friends. Gail’s memory will be cherished, and her legacy will live on through the lives she touched.
