Sara Unger
Sara Unger, age 35 and Alexa Cassidy Unger age 8 went to be with Jesus November 15th 2024 due to a tragic accident.
Sara was born to Peter and Maria Sawatzky in Mexico on June 24, 1989. Second youngest of 9 kids. Her first few years were spent going back and forth to Ontario, Mexico and Manitoba. In 1994 we officially moved to Altona, and when she was 10 we moved to Gretna. She loved Gretna, and is where she met her husband just a few houses down the street.
Sara was Baptized May 29th 2009 Altona Sommerfeld Church. On May 15th 2011 She married her soulmate Peter Unger. They were happily married for 13 years 6 months. She had 2 beautiful children, whom she was very devoted to teach them the best education. In 2017 Pete and Sara both graduated high school.
Sara is Survived by her husband Peter and son Dominic Unger, Mom Maria Sawatzky, 8 siblings (Alvin and Lisa Sawatzky, Frank and Tina Sawatzky, Martin and Mary Sawatzky, David and Linda Sawatzky, Corny and Amanda Sawatzky) 3 Sisters (Irma Derksen, Martha Sawatzky, Eva and Dave Heinrichs) and many nieces and nephews.
Sara was Predeceased by her Father Peter Sawatzky in 2019, and both sets of Grand parents.
Sara struggled with a lot of back pain, in fact she was diagnosed with scoliosis, same as dad. Although she had constant pain and sleepless nights, you would never tell she was physically struggling. Sara and her husband loved cooking for each other, they enjoyed camping and going on hikes. She was the kids teacher and was pretty darn good at it. The amount of crafts she did with the kids, jars of caterpillars, and frog holding she let the kids do even though she hated those things. I always said “your a better mom then me” She was involved in the community and church. She had a big heart, wanted everyone to get along. Her main focus was to grow her faith and the evidence she left behind is so reassuring that she is in a better place.
The best way to describe Sara are in the words of a grade school teacher who always called her “sweet, sweet Sara” (In low German)
Alexa Cassidy Unger
Alexa was born to Peter and Sara Unger boundary trails hospital in morden on June 14th 2016. She passed away in her daddy’s arms at the health science centre, to go be with her mom and Jesus.
Alexa leaves to mourn her Dad, and big brother Dominic, grandmas and a grandpa, lots of aunts and uncles, cousins and friends. She was pre deceased by grandpa Sawatzky.
Alexa was the most sassy full of life little girl you could ever meet. You couldn't come or go without getting an “Alexa hug” her love for Jesus and singing was strong, almost like a burning fire and wasn’t afraid or embarrassed to tell or show everyone around her.
If you were to look up the words “daddy’s girl” in the dictionary, It should say Alexa. Anyone who saw her and her dad together could see that close relationship and there was no getting in the way. I believe that is why she waited for her dad to come hold her till she went to be with her mom. You will be so missed sweet little girl.
In the words of Alexa. “Alexa out!”
We would like to thank, plum coulee fire department, stars, health science centre, Wiebe funeral home, and the tremendous amount of support and prayers the family has received.
