It is with broken hearts that we anounce the tragic passing of our dear Miroslav George Mulko, a beloved father, brother, cousin, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather and a dear friend to many. He lived a full and rich life defined by hard work, generosity, and a love for the outdoors. Born in Winnipeg to Terezie Kordula and Feodor Mulko on May 31st 1940 and raised in Dominion City on a small farm nestled in southern Manitoba. His childhood on the farm shaped his lifelong appreciation for hard work, community, and the beauty of the land.
After high school, George began his career as a dedicated grain buyer for United Grain Growers in Lowe Farm followed by Letellier. His entrepreneurial spirit flourished on the farm, where he became a skilled hog farmer and operated a thriving straw business, supplying straw to customers in the United States and to the horse race track at Assiniboine Downs. His passion for hospitality shone through as a campground host with Manitoba Farm Vacations, where he created lasting memories for campers and house guests with his warm and welcoming nature. Deeply committed to his community, George served as a counselor for the municipality of Montcalm and was a valued member of the Knights of Columbus in Letellier and the Elks Club of Dominion City contributing his time and energy to numerous community events.
George enriched his life with cherished hobbies, including camping at Rushing River Provincial Park, fishing with his brother in laws, playing cards with the Calders and Neufelds, and filling the air with music from his piano at home or at Christmas concerts at the Marais River Hall. He kept his hands busy in countless ways, planting hostas in his garden, crafting birdhouses in his workshop, and chopping and stacking wood from the pasture-expressions of his deep connection to the land and his creative spirit.
George enriched the lives of others with his passion for hosting butchering and sausage-making weekends, where he brought people together to share in the traditions of farm life. Known for his skill with a knife and his meticulous attention to detail, George took great pride in his craft. His culinary talents shone at many feasts filled with grilled and smoked delicacies, turning every gathering into a celebration of good food and good company. He will be remembered for his unwavering kindness, brilliant mind, and the love he gave to everyone fortunate enough to know him.
George will be deeply missed by his loving partner Eleanor, and by Alice, mother of his four children: Sheila (Carlo), David (Maggie), Melanie (Lorin), Michelle (Paul). He was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren: Colleen (Owen), Steven, Ashley (Paul) and Yvonne (Chris). He will also be greatly missed by his brother John (Mabel) and six great grandchildren. He leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, partner Edie and his only sister Dorothy.
