Mildred Weiss

Mildred Weiss, 92, of Emerson gently left her earthly home on April 2, 2025 at Altona Memorial Health Center. She is survived by her son, Russell, 2 grandsons, Cory (Ewa) and Kristopher (Athena) and her 3 precious great-granddaughters, Mya, Amelia and Isabella; brother, August (Linda) Steinert, brother-in-law David (Rosina) Volkenant, her special girls Lori, Angela and Monique, many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband Richard, parents, David and Holdina Steinert, and 8 siblings.

Mildred was born June 8, 1932 in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan. She moved to Woodmore, MB with her family in 1937. In 1952 she married Richard Weiss. They farmed in the Ridgeville area. Her strong work ethic, learned from her parents, served her well as a farm wife, milking cows, growing a large garden, helping in the fields, and keeping a spotless home.

When Richard’s health began to fail, they moved to Dominion City. Mildred later moved to Emerson where she enjoyed new friends, shuffleboard and was always ready for a card game. She enjoyed the outdoors – long walks and her lawns were always immaculate (and dandelion free!).

Mildred continued to live on her own, with the help of her dear friend, Lori, until entering hospital on March 10, where she remained until her passing.

A family grave side service will be held at a later date.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff at Altona Health Facility for their kind and compassionate care during Mildred’s final days.

If friends so desire a donation may be made to a charity of their choice.
