Margaret Letkeman

Margaret was born in Sommerfeld Village, Altona on September 30,1932 , daughter of Peter P and Maria Hildebrand (nee Sawatzky).She was one of 12 children and worked hard on the farm. As a child she developed anemia and had to drink wine to build up her blood. To this day she could not stand the taste of wine. Health issues seemed to follow her the rest of her life.

Margaret was baptized in the Sommerfelder Church in June of 1950 and married John Letkeman on July 9, 1950. They were blessed with 6 children, numerous grandchildren, great grand children, and great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by one son ( stillborn, Abram), oldest son John in 1989, and one son-in-law Doug on June 7, 1974.

Margaret had a long and multi-faceted life filled with many accomplishments to her credit, including being a well known chiropractor for 25 years, helping many people from far and wide, raising her children, helping her in-laws with their businesses, doing books for her husbands' construction business, running her own restaurant etc.

Margaret enjoyed dancing, playing cards and cribbage,floor curling, bingo, and she really enjoyed fishing. She made friends easily and leaves many to mourn her loss.

As she aged she started getting many diseases and as each new one came along,faced each one with courage and humor. She suffered each with dignity and a deep faith in GOD.

Rest in peace good and faithful servant, well done. Till we meet again. We will always love you

Margaret lost her courageous battle on September 18,2020. She leaves to mourn daughter-in-law Nettie, daughter Marge, son Pete and wife Elsie, son David and wife Barb, son Henry and wife Jolene, son Dick and wife Sandi, their children, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank all the doctors, caregivers, friends, and family for their support. Special thanks to Wiebe Funeral Home for their assistance in this final journey.

Funeral Service was held on Monday, September 21, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Altona Sommerfeld Mennonite Church, with burial at the Altona Cemetery.
