Margaret Dick

Mom went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on April 27th, 2017 at the Altona Community Memorial Health Centre surrounded by family. She celebrated her 80th birthday with family and friends just a month ago.

Mom was born to John and Katherine (Tina) Driedger (nee Hiebert) on March 16, 1937 in Neuhorst. She grew up and went to school in Neuhorst and Rosefarm. Her mother, Tina, passed away when Mom was 18, as the eldest daughter of 9 siblings, she kept her family together.  She was baptized upon the confession of her faith in her Lord Jesus Christ.

She met her sweetheart, Peter A. Dick, and they married on June 16th, 1957. They were blessed with 5 children, and over the years mom welcomed many children into their home.

Mom’s hobbies included knitting and reading.  She enjoyed babysitting, volunteering at MCC, but loved family camping during the summers, her sister sleepovers, and Thursday lunches with her many friends at the apartment.

Mom is survived by her children Robert & Lisa Dick of Altona, Barry & Anne Dick of Reinland, Bruce & Wendy Dick of Edmonton, Brenda & Grant Clifford of Calgary, Sandra & Jerry Peters of Firdale, 11 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. Mom was predeceased by her loving husband Pete on June 8th, 1992.

Memorial service on Monday, May 1, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Altona United Church.  A private family burial will take place prior to the service.
