Ingrid Pokrant

It is with great sadness that we announce on January 6, 2022 the passing of loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Ingrid Pokrant (nee Krueger), born February 6, 1957.

Ingrid was predeceased by her dad Henry, mom Mary, and brother Richard; she is survived by her husband Mark of 44 wonderful years, her loving daughter Amy (Daniel), grandsons Sullivan and Holden who were the apples of her eye, brothers Hank (Marion), Bob, and sister Marlene (Mark).

Ingrid’s fight with cancer was met with grace, a great determination to survive, and love and care for her family and friends.

Ingrid loved her garden and spending winters in Arizona. She had many hobbies including painting, sculpting, blues music, gourd carving, writing, and, of course, discussing politics.

Some of Ingrid’s accomplishments were master gardener, interior designer, working for the League for Life and Alliance Action, TC Building office manager, and being the best oma, mother, and wife ever.

We know that Ingrid is sitting on her opa’s lap now like she loved doing as a child. We shall love and miss her forever.

A private funeral service will be held with interment at the Altona Cemetery.

Donations in memory of Ingrid may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.

Dear Mark and Amy - How sad I was when my son Noah told me of Ingrid no longer being with us. I did not even know she was ill. I feel AWFUL that I was not praying for her during her illness. I ALWAYS enjoyed the impromptu visits I had but was sure that the reason I could not contact her more recently was that she was so busy being a pro-active grandmother. I have a little thing on my dining room table .for her garden that I thought she would think 'cute'. Have wonderful memories of our chats and working with her at Alliance as a volunteer. I am so glad I have a few treasures from her and will cherish them all the more. I am SURE she & Mary Lamont are sharing good times again too. May you be blessed with faith filled comfort .I am sure we will all feel her closeness until we are all together again. much love to y'll

For those who weren\'t able to attend mom\'s service today for all the various reasons that befall us, we will be holding a memorial gathering this summer in the garden so stay tuned. In the meanwhile, there is now a link to the service and slide show at the bottom of the obituary here if you\'d like to watch.

Thank you to everyone for everything. We can\'t begin to express our gratitude.

I would encourage you to make a donation to CancerCare or Crisis Pregnancy Centre in her name should you wish.

Oh Ingrid you will be so missed! 😢 I always eagerly anticipated our chats & strolls thru your creative flower garden. Thank You for the slips, snips & seeds you so graciously shared with me. They will be a constant reminder of your inner & outer beauty & strength as they grow in my flower garden.
Sending hugs, love & prayers to Mark, Amy & all the rest of the family.

To Mark and family: I have many fond memories of growing up with Ingrid and her siblings as my neighbor and playmates in Altona. She had an incredible spirit and infectious smile, and will be missed. So sorry for your loss!
