Christopher Lee Sawatzky

Chris passed away, unexpectedly, at the age of 38 in Olds, Alberta. 

He will be dearly missed by his children, Delaney (15), Diesel (13) and Dezriel (11), Jennifer, mother of his children, his mom and dad Lisa and Neil, brother Rick (Daria) and their children Malakai and Dawson, Grandmas Katharina Peters and Helena Sawatzky, special friend Kelsey and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his two Grandpas.

Chris was born in Winnipeg, MB,raised in Rosenfeld, and then in the village of Sommerfeld. He later moved to Saskatchewan after he got his Class 1 drivers, where he met Jennifer. They got married on May 10, 2011 and had 3 beautiful children together, Delaney, Diesel, and Dezriel. He lived in Naicam, SK until he bought a house in Spalding, SK. 

Since he was little, Chris attended Sunday School at the Sommerfeld Church and learned the Lord’s Prayer through the guidance of his mom. Whenever he came to Manitoba, he attended the Victory Family Church. He has always had a passion for trucking, having often gone on trips with his dad. So, when he turned 18, he got his Class 1’s and spent most of his adult life doing what he loved most, hauling cattle. 

People often said that “Chris is a big guy with a big heart”. Always ready to help someone, he made friends easily and was often found chatting with someone he knew on the phone. He loved family gatherings and visiting with his aunts, uncles and cousins, especially over some good, homemade Mennonite food. He had the heartiest laugh and biggest smile, which lit up the room. He was so loved and will never be forgotten. Chris, we hope you rest in the arms of Jesus and that one day we will see you again.
